Orelo is a watch culture publication in Spanish and English.
We were born from a simple belief: the 580 million Spanish speakers around the world deserve the same quality of watch journalism that exists in English, French, and German. A publication that takes seriously the collector in Mexico City, the enthusiast in Bogotá, the curious reader in Buenos Aires, the bilingual Hispanic in Miami who reads Hodinkee in English because there's no real alternative in their language.
We are that alternative.
We cover watches from every origin and every price point. The great Swiss manufactures that have spent centuries perfecting their craft. The Japanese houses that democratized mechanical precision. The German firms with their architecturally exposed movements. And especially — the independent brands and microbrands redefining watchmaking in the 21st century: small workshops, independent designers, founders who built a brand from scratch with an obsessive idea and distributed it to the world through the internet.
These brands rarely make it into traditional watch media. At Orelo, they do. Because one of the most valuable things a specialized publication can offer its readers is to show them what they don't know yet.
We write about the object — the movement, the design, the history behind each dial. We write about the market — real prices in Latin America, pre-owned watches, investment, where to buy well. We write about the culture — watches in Latin American history, the collectors nobody knows about, the meaning of wearing a mechanical watch in an era that carries the time in its pocket.
We do it in Spanish first, in English too. Always with editorial independence. Always from the perspective of someone who lives and buys in the real Spanish-speaking world.
Orelo. Watches and horological culture.
