Between 1952 and 1954, a group of explorers spent two full winters on the ice sheet of northern Greenland as part of the British North Greenland Expedition. On their wrists were Tudor watches, tested in cold that no Swiss laboratory fully replicates. That episode built much of Tudor's reputation as a maker of tool watches built to function where others fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six decades later, in 2015, Tudor used that name for a watch that broke from the rest of its catalogue: the North Flag, drawing on the little-known 1973 Ranger II and running the brand's first in-house manufacture movement, the caliber MT5621. Tudor discontinued it in 2021, after six years on the shelf, without much fanfare. Watch media didn't forget it: for years, outlets described it as Tudor's \"forgotten\" watch and, trade show after trade show, kept asking whether the brand would bring it back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A watch unlike the rest of the catalogue<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The original North Flag wasn't a Submariner variation the way the Black Bay and Pelagos are. It drew its design language from the Ranger II, a niche model within Tudor's own archive, and ran a movement that, while historic for the brand, was shared with the Pelagos the same year. That combination, a little-known design reference and a technical debut shared with another model, is one of the reasons watch media has pointed to when explaining why the watch didn't get the commercial staying power of its catalogue siblings, despite the appreciation it built among collectors. In a 2019 retrospective video that circulated widely among enthusiasts, industrial designer IDGuy called it \"an excellent design language to work with,\" referring to the potential he saw in a future revision of the model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 version<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tudor unveiled the new Northflag on September 1, 2026, during Geneva Watch Days. It keeps the original's general lines: a 40mm case, a black dial with large luminous monobloc ceramic Arabic numerals, and a two-link integrated bracelet. The changes concentrate on function and proportions. The 2015 model's power reserve indicator is gone, replaced by a true GMT function with a central 24-hour hand and a 24-hour scale angled at 45 degrees on the rehaut. The case is now 12.7mm thick, and the bracelet gets Tudor's quick-adjust \"T-fit\" clasp. Inside runs the manufacture caliber MT5652-U, with a non-magnetic silicon hairspring and a 65-hour power reserve, certified as a chronometer by COSC and, further, as a Master Chronometer by METAS, a stricter standard that tests precision, magnetic resistance, water resistance, and power reserve as a whole. The sapphire caseback, another first for the original 2015 North Flag, carries over to this version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Availability in our region<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tudor doesn't sell the Northflag online; the brand distributes it exclusively through physical boutiques, a policy that holds in Switzerland and everywhere else. In Mexico, Tudor's official site lists a suggested price of MXN 111,500, though, as in any other market, that figure doesn't translate into an online purchase: buyers still need to visit a Tudor boutique. For Colombia and Argentina, where the brand keeps a more limited presence, we could not find a published list price as of this writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
