As the brand tells it, the vintage pieces they were drawn to were fragile and hard to find, which led to the idea of building watches with mid-twentieth-century design and the construction of a modern watch. Héron sells directly through its website and from its own showroom in Montreal.

On September 23 it introduced the Continental, its fourth model family, inspired by the watches that went along with pilots, mountaineers and scientists on the expeditions of the 1950s.

© Héron

Technical Specs

References

5001-A (black), 5002-A (blue), 5003-A (cream)

Case

Hardened 316L stainless steel (1200 HV on brushed surfaces, around 800 HV on polished ones), 37 mm diameter, 8.5 mm thick without crystal and 11 mm with it, 43 mm lug to lug, 20 mm lug width

Crystal and back

Boxed sapphire with anti-reflective coating; screw-down sapphire caseback with custom rotor

Water resistance

100 m, screw-down crown

Dial

Sandwich construction, sunburst black and blue, lacquered cream; Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, four spherical lume blocks and broad-arrow hands; Super-LumiNova BGW9

Caliber

Miyota 9039, automatic with hand-winding; 28,800 vph (4 Hz), 24 jewels, 42-hour power reserve, −10 to +30 seconds per day per the manufacturer

Functions

Hours, minutes and seconds

Bracelet

Hardened steel beads-of-rice, screwed links, quick-release spring bars and micro-adjustment in the clasp

Price

630 USD (official website)

Availability

Pre-order; first batch in January 2027

© Héron

From the Gladiateur to the Continental

Héron's Gladiateur MMLXV, a 41 mm watch powered by the Miyota 9039, came out in 2023 at 510 dollars. That same year the brand took the Marinor to Kickstarter, a 39 mm dive watch with a steel case treated to 1200 HV. The Mirabel GMT followed in 2025: 37.5 mm, Miyota 9075 movement and an Art Deco-inspired dial, later named by Worn & Wound among the best watches of that year. In 2026 the Marinor returned in a slimmer second generation. Several specialist publications have reviewed production examples of these models hands-on.

© Héron

Steel hardened to 1200 HV

Vickers hardness is measured by pressing a diamond tip into the metal and measuring the mark it leaves; the smaller the mark, the higher the number. According to Héron, untreated 316L stainless steel, the most common alloy in watchmaking, sits between 150 and 200 HV. The Continental's treatment brings the brushed surfaces of the case and bracelet up to 1200 HV, while the polished surfaces end up at around 800 HV. In everyday terms, brushing against a desk, a backpack zipper or another watch leaves fewer visible marks, on the case as well as on the bracelet, which gets the same treatment.

Sinn and Damasko, two German brands, have hardened their steel cases for years, on watches that cost considerably more. Héron already applied the process to the Marinor; with the Continental it brings it to a 37 mm watch meant to be worn every day.

© Héron

Exploration-watch design cues

Héron names the Rolex Explorer, the Universal Genève Polerouter, the Omega Railmaster and the Longines Conquest as references. The Arabic numerals at the four cardinal points and the broad-arrow hands come from the 1957 Railmaster, a resemblance Gear Patrol pointed out on launch day. The rest is Héron's own: the sandwich dial shows the lume through cutouts in the hour track, four small raised spheres of Super-LumiNova sit at 12, 3, 6 and 9, and the case has short lugs that curve toward the wrist and a polished bevel running along the flank. It combines traits from several watches of the period into a design of its own that does not copy any one of the models the brand cites.

At 37 mm across and 43 mm lug to lug, the Continental stays close to the proportions of 1950s watches. It can be wound by hand and stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled, so the watch can be set to the second. Without a date, the dial stays symmetrical, with no window breaking up the scale. Its 42-hour power reserve covers a night off the wrist, though a watch taken off on Friday evening will have stopped by Monday. The −10 to +30 seconds per day tolerance Miyota publishes is wide, and Héron does not announce any regulation of its own.

© Héron

Buying from Latin America and Spain

Héron sells the Continental on its official website for 630 dollars as a pre-order, with the first batch due in January 2027. The brand ships with UPS to most countries, free on orders over 100 dollars, and import duties are paid by the buyer on delivery; in the United States, by contrast, watches ship from a domestic warehouse and the price already includes tariffs. Héron does not publish official prices for Mexico, Colombia, Argentina or Spain, nor does its site list destination countries, so buyers in those markets can confirm shipping to their country with the brand. The warranty runs two years.

A compact explorer built to resist scratches

For 630 dollars, the Continental brings together a hardened steel case and bracelet, a boxed sapphire crystal, 100 meters of water resistance with a screw-down crown and micro-adjustment in the clasp, at 37 mm and in proportions close to the exploration watches that inspired it. The sandwich dial with its four lume blocks is what sets it apart most from those models. Two points weigh against it: the Miyota 9039's accuracy tolerance is wide and its reserve will not carry through a weekend, and the pre-order means waiting until January, with a 15% fee if the order is cancelled. Anyone after a high-precision automatic, or who wants the watch now, has other options. For someone who wants a classically inspired 37 mm watch that can take daily wear without collecting scratches, the hardened steel on the Continental's case and bracelet is built for exactly that kind of wear.

The Montreal brand, started by three collectors, introduces an exploration watch with a hardened steel case and bracelet, the same treatment found on its Marinor dive watch.

[6
102,101,97,96
post-1462","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-independientes","tag-canada","tag-heron","tag-reloj-cuco","tag-reloj-gada
["GET
