Trematic was a Geneva-based watchmaker that produced moon-phase watches, triple calendars and other complications in the 1950s and 1960s. According to the brand, most of those pieces ran on automatic movements from Felsa, a manufacturer in Grenchen, and production stopped in the 1980s during the crisis that quartz watches caused across the Swiss industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name returned in 2022, when Daniele Campagnano bought it. Campagnano is an economist trained at the Catholic University of Rome who had previously run the watch department of an Italian brand. The company behind Trematic today is registered in Rome and ships orders from Italy, while its watches are made in Switzerland and carry the Swiss Made label, whose requirements ORELO explained in an earlier article<\/a>. Within the catalog, the Archivio Uno project brings back historical pieces from the house, among them the Ref. 502, a three-hand dress watch. On September 18 Trematic put the second series on sale, the Archivio Uno Ref. 502 Mark II, in three new versions: Oscuro, Salmon and Nero Gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A slim case and a pie-pan dial<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The 316L steel case measures 38 mm across and 45.5 mm lug to lug, with polished surfaces and a few brushed details. Trematic gives two thickness figures: 9 mm without the crystal and 10.4 mm with it. The crystal is domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dial is a pie-pan design: the center is flat and the outer ring slopes down toward the edge, like an upturned pie tin. Each zone has its own finish, and the outer ring carries applied Arabic numerals at the even hours and wedge-shaped markers at the odd ones. According to the brand, the typeface of the numerals comes directly from the historical model. The hands are dauphine style, and the strap, made of a vegan material derived from fruit, has a quick-release system so it can be swapped without tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oscuro, Salmon and Nero Gun<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The three new versions share the case, crystal and movement and differ in color. The Salmon pairs a salmon dial with the polished steel case and a gray strap, and the Nero Gun puts a black dial with dark gray markers and hands in that same case. The Oscuro, the most expensive of the three, is black throughout: dial, markers, case and strap. They join the six versions already in the catalog: Panna, Nero, Blue, Bosco, Choco and Choco Rose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sellita SW200-1 b caliber<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sellita fabrica el SW200-1<\/a> en dos versiones: la \u00aba\u00bb, con fecha, y la \u00abb\u00bb, de tres agujas sin fecha. Cuando un reloj sin fecha lleva la versi\u00f3n \u00aba\u00bb, la corona conserva una posici\u00f3n intermedia que no cumple ninguna funci\u00f3n, porque no hay un disco de fecha que ajustar; es lo que Trematic llama el \u00abclic fantasma\u00bb de la fecha. El cambio principal del Mark II es que, seg\u00fan la marca, lleva ahora el SW200-1 b, que elimina esa posici\u00f3n: la corona tiene solo dos, una para dar cuerda y otra para poner la hora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The movement is \u00e9labor\u00e9 grade, the second of the four grades Sellita uses to classify its calibers: it is adjusted in three positions and its average rate may deviate by up to 7 seconds a day in either direction. It runs at 4 Hz with a power reserve of about 41 hours, and its height of 4.60 mm, taken from Sellita's catalog, is a little more than half of the case's 9 mm without the crystal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other change is on the steel caseback, which is screwed in place and on the Mark II carries a new engraving with the collection name, the reference and the words \"Automatic\", \"Stainless Steel\" and \"Swiss Made\". Inside it keeps its perlage finish, a decoration that stays hidden when the case is closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rest of the catalog<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Besides the Ref. 502, Trematic sells the ZY6, a 38 mm watch with 100 meters of water resistance that the brand describes as a hybrid of dress and field watch, at 750 euros on a strap and 850 on a Forstner bracelet in its European Union store. The Archivio Uno Ref. 802, a complete calendar with moon phase, was produced in a run of 30 pieces at 2,300 euros and is sold out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prices across the region<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In the United States, the official site sells the Ref. 502 Mark II for 1,050 dollars in the Salmon and Nero Gun versions and 1,100 dollars in the Oscuro. In Spain they cost 930 and 980 euros. For Mexico the site shows prices in euros, 938 and 983, and the same figures appear when Colombia, Argentina or Chile is selected as the destination; for Peru it lists them in soles, 3,691 and 3,867. Under Trematic's terms of sale, the price of its watches includes transport, customs duties and import taxes in every country, with no additional charges on delivery. Straps bought separately are not covered by that condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brand's store locator lists two points of sale in Spain, both in the Madrid region (Relojer\u00eda La Bottega del Tempo in Madrid and Watch World Museum in Getafe), and one in Panama, Tramice Watches. There is no retailer in Mexico, where the watch is bought through the official site, which has a Spanish version. Returns are accepted within 15 days; the buyer pays for return shipping and, on international orders, Trematic deducts from the refund the duties and taxes it paid to import the watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Swiss automatic dress watch<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Archivio Uno Ref. 502 Mark II brings together the traits of a 1950s dress watch: a slim case, a pie-pan dial with applied numerals and a domed crystal. Trematic recovered them from one of its historical models and paired them with a Swiss \u00e9labor\u00e9-grade caliber, which in this second series is also the version suited to a watch without a date. The change shows when the crown is pulled out to set the time, because the ghost position of the first series is gone. With that adjustment and the new caseback engraving, the Mark II improves the details of the watch without altering its measurements or its design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The model now comes in nine versions, among them a salmon dial and an all-black version, all carrying the Swiss Made label and a five-year international warranty. For buyers in Latin America, the price shown on the site already includes shipping and import taxes, according to the brand, so the final price is known before paying.
