In April 2025 Christopher Ward introduced the C12 Loco, a watch with an angular case and integrated bracelet that debuted the CW-003, a hand-wound calibre with a six-day power reserve and its balance mounted on the dial side, in plain view. It was the brand's first free-sprung balance, and that year the watch reached the final of the Petite Aiguille category at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Gen\u00e8ve (GPHG), the annual watchmaking awards held in Geneva, a category the brand had won in 2023 with the Bel Canto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The C1 Loco Classic, unveiled on October 15, puts the same calibre in a round case of classic design. According to the brand, the design began in July 2024, when design director Adrian Buchmann showed a 3D rendering of the watch at a team gathering in Biel. Before its launch, the model was already among the six finalists in the Petite Aiguille category of the 2026 GPHG, whose winners will be announced on November 7 in Geneva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CW-003 calibre<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The CW-003 is Christopher Ward's second in-house calibre, following the SH21 the brand developed in 2014 with Synergies Horlog\u00e8res, the Biel company it merged with that same year. It has 138 components, 29 jewels and two barrels, which give it 144 hours of power reserve, six full days, far beyond the roughly 42 hours of most mechanical calibres in its price range. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and the brand guarantees a rate of between 0 and 7 seconds fast per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The balance is free-sprung. Many calibres adjust the rate with a regulator, an index that lengthens or shortens the active part of the hairspring; here there is none, and adjustment is made on the balance itself. Christopher Ward placed it on the dial side, where its oscillation is in view next to the time. For this version, the brand refined the bridges, now slimmer and with rounded edges, with more than five hours of hand finishing in the Swiss Jura, and the baseplate has a laser-engraved grained texture, polished bevels and gold plating, with the whole movement on view through the sapphire caseback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dial of mother-of-pearl and ceramic<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The base dial is grain-sandblasted, coated with a varnish containing powdered mother-of-pearl and then finished with a PVD colour layer. The brand compares the effect to oil on water and offers it in three colours: gold, which is the GPHG finalist, light blue and black. The time is read on a domed white ceramic sub-dial, with Roman numerals laser-engraved and hand-filled with black lacquer, and diamond-cut, polished hands with blue PVD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Case and bracelet<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The 904L steel case, an alloy with more lustre than the usual 316L, measures 41 mm in diameter, 14.1 mm thick and 48 mm lug to lug. It combines polished and brushed surfaces, and a groove runs along the flank into individually soldered lugs. Its 30-meter water resistance suits rain and splashes, as befits a dress watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The watch comes on a suede-textured leather strap or on the new five-link Consort bracelet in 904L steel, which reverses the usual balance of finishes with more polished than brushed surfaces. The links come out without tools, the end links have a quick-release system, and the clasp has an extension that adjusts while the watch is being worn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buying online and shipping to Latin America<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The C1 Loco Classic costs 5,995 dollars on the strap and 6,275 on the bracelet. Christopher Ward sells it on its official website as a pre-order, with shipping expected in mid-January 2027; delivery is free worldwide and returns are free for 60 days. For Mexico and the rest of Latin America, which the site groups with countries that have no specific terms, checkout shows whether taxes and duties are due; if none are shown, the watch ships without them paid and the buyer covers them on delivery. In the European Union, and therefore in Spain, the price includes VAT and import duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Loco to dress up<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The C1 Loco Classic keeps what set the C12 Loco apart, an in-house six-day calibre with the balance on show on the dial, and presents it in a round case with soldered lugs and a dial of mother-of-pearl and ceramic that give it the look of a dress watch. In the Petite Aiguille final it competes with watches such as the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph and the Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture, and it is the brand's third model to reach that stage in four editions, after the Bel Canto, winner in 2023, and the C12 Loco in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
