Its newest release trades that precision-timer energy for something more contemplative: a radially textured dial that mimics the copper swirl of crema the moment a shot finishes dripping into the cup. It's called the Metric Manual Wind Copper, and it's the third dial Brew has put on the manual-wind platform it introduced just last year.

© Brew Watch Co.

Brew's story starts in a New York coffee shop in 2015, when industrial designer Jonathan Ferrer, now an adjunct professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he studied, noticed baristas timing their pulls with kitchen timers. With $1,000 and a Kickstarter campaign, he launched the Special Blend, Brew's first watch. Eleven years later, according to Europa Star, the brand's sales have grown 75-fold since that first year (that figure comes from a single source I couldn't independently confirm, so take it with that caveat). In that time, Brew grew from a single reference into full collections: High Pressure, Retrograph, Mastergraph, and in 2025, for its tenth anniversary, it finally added the piece that had been missing: a Swiss manual-wind movement, the Sellita SW210, inside the Metric case that has defined the brand's look since day one.

That platform is now getting its third finish. The Copper keeps the 36mm x 41.5mm stainless steel case at just 8.5mm thick, the thinnest Brew has ever made, with a TV-shaped sapphire crystal and an integrated-style flat-link bracelet that reads bigger on the wrist than the numbers suggest. What's new is the dial: a radial-grooved copper finish that shifts toward salmon depending on the light, matte black hands and applied hour markers with lume inserts, and a raised chapter ring framing the whole thing. It's a quieter read than the high-contrast blue, red and yellow scheme of the original Metric Manual Wind, and that restraint is also its most debatable trade-off: legibility takes a small step back compared to the versions that made the espresso-timer seconds track a graphic centerpiece. What you get in exchange is the most mature watch Brew has built to date.

© Brew Watch Co.

The movement, a hand-wound Sellita SW210-1 b, 42 hours of power reserve, beating at 28,800 vph, is visible through a sapphire caseback, a finish Brew reserves for very few references; most of its catalog, including pieces under $500, still runs on Japanese Miyota movements. The Copper costing nearly double those watches isn't a flaw, but it's worth saying plainly: you're paying for the Swiss movement and the finishing, not just the design.

Case

Stainless steel, 36mm x 41.5mm, 8.5mm thick, TV-shaped

Crystal

Sapphire; sapphire caseback

Caliber

Sellita SW210-1 b, hand-wound, 28,800 vph (4Hz), 42h power reserve

Water resistance

50 meters

Strap

Integrated-style flat-link bracelet, folding clasp with micro-adjustment

Price (MSRP)

$875 USD

Availability

Direct at brew-watches.com since July 3, 2026

Brew does not have an official distributor in Latin America or Spain: the only way to purchase it is directly through their website, with international shipping. International shipping costs and import taxes must be added to this amount, which, according to the website's instructions, can be calculated before making the purchase. The answer depends on each buyer's priorities. For some, having a Swiss hand-wound caliber will justify the additional expense; for others, perhaps not. What's hard to dispute is that Brew has gone beyond the identity that made it famous.
