Hamilton Adds a Cosmic Blue Dial to the Khaki Field Murph 38mm

The Khaki Field Murph 38mm already came in black and white; now it gains a third dial option in blue, with the same H-10 caliber and prices starting at $995.

The Khaki Field Murph 38mm already existed in two versions: the original black dial and the white one on a steel bracelet that came later. Hamilton isn't touching the case or the caliber of that watch; what it's doing now is adding a third dial option, a blue-to-black gradient with a grainy texture that the brand describes as a nod to the passage of an interstellar comet. Everything else — the size, the movement, the military silhouette inherited from the watch that appeared in Interstellar in 2014 — stays the same.

Design Analysis

The blue-to-black gradient at the edge, combined with the grainy texture, gives depth to a dial that would look flatter in a single, flat tone. Monochrome Watches, which examined it in person, describes the effect not as a bright blue but as a tone that shifts between blue and near-black depending on how the wrist catches the light. The domed Arabic numerals and cathedral hands are the same visual language the Murph has used since it went into production in 2019, and they don't change in this version. What remains unresolved, across all three dials, is the thickness: 11.1mm on a 38mm case is a heavy proportion for a field watch, closer to a dive watch than a classic Khaki Field. The sapphire caseback, which shows the movement, is uncommon at this price point.

Movement Analysis

Under any of the three dials beats the same H-10 found across much of Hamilton's Khaki Field lineup. Monochrome Watches identifies its architecture as ETA's Powermatic 80; Hamilton doesn't confirm that in its own spec sheet, so it's worth treating as industry knowledge rather than brand messaging. This isn't an in-house movement but a widely used entry-level base from Swatch Group, extended to an 80-hour power reserve with a Nivachron balance spring that resists magnetic fields and temperature swings better than a conventional one. It has no complications beyond hours, minutes, and central seconds. Mechanically, the blue Murph is identical to the black and white versions, and to any other H-10-equipped Khaki Field; the only thing that's different is the dial, and the Interstellar story that comes with it.

Availability in our region

In Mexico, Hamilton lists a suggested retail price of $21,090 pesos for the leather version and $22,890 pesos for the bracelet, tax included, though the purchase isn't a direct checkout: buyers need to find an authorized dealer. In Spain, the watch is sold online at €995 and €1,075 respectively. Hamilton has no official online store for Colombia or Argentina; there, the most reliable option is a local authorized dealer or ordering from Mexico or Spain, factoring in whatever import duty applies.

The verdict from ORELO

This blue dial isn't just an option for people who already own a black or white Murph: it's a real alternative for anyone shopping for their first Swiss field watch who wants the Interstellar story built in. The 38mm Murph catalog now has three dials without touching the mechanics — it's still the same H-10, with the same power reserve and no complications — so the choice between black, white, and blue comes down entirely to looks. The 11.1mm thickness on a 38mm case doesn't disappear with a new color, and it's worth keeping in mind before buying. But as an entry point into collecting, with the cultural weight it carries in the Spanish-speaking world, this version gives anyone considering their first Hamilton one more reason to commit.
