TAG Heuer marks ten years of partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing in a Formula 1 Solargraph

The 38 mm special edition, in Oracle Red Bull Racing blue and red, marks ten years of partnership and runs on a solar calibre.

TAG Heuer and Red Bull Racing have worked together since 2016. Between that year and 2018, the team's Renault engines carried the TAG Heuer name. In the following seasons the team, called Oracle Red Bull Racing since 2022 after its title sponsor, won the drivers' championships from 2021 to 2024 with Max Verstappen, and the constructors' championships of 2022 and 2023.

For the tenth anniversary of the partnership, TAG Heuer introduced on 12 October a special edition of the 38 mm Formula 1 Solargraph, the solar-powered version of its Formula 1 collection, the sports line with which the brand drew a young audience in the 1980s.

The watch is already on sale in Mexico in the week of the Mexico City Grand Prix, run on Sunday 1 November at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, its eleventh edition since the race returned to the calendar in 2015. Verstappen has won five times at the circuit, between 2017 and 2023, and Mexico's Sergio Pérez was his Red Bull teammate from 2021 to 2024.

The team's colours

The dial is blue, with a sunray finish that shifts in tone with the light, and a red outer ring carrying the seconds scale: the team's two main colours. On it, the applied indices are lacquered in black and filled with Super-LumiNova, which looks white by day and glows green in the dark. The central seconds hand is yellow, as is the frame of the date window at 3 o'clock. TAG Heuer keeps the Formula 1 collection's features in this edition: the shield-shaped indices at 6, 9 and 12, the shape of the hour hand, and a case inspired by the collection's first models.

The steel case has a matte sandblasted finish, and the rotating bezel is made of TH-Polylight, a TAG Heuer material, in the same blue as the dial. The bracelet, also sandblasted, has three rows of links which, according to the brand, make it more articulated and comfortable on the wrist. The team reference is completed on the caseback, with the Oracle Red Bull Racing logo next to TAG Heuer's and a checkered flag pattern, and in a box in the team's colours.

The TH50-00 solar calibre

The Solargraph runs on the TH50-00, a quartz calibre TAG Heuer introduced in 2022 in its Aquaracer Professional line. Light passes through the dial to solar cells that charge an accumulator. According to the brand, one minute of direct sunlight is enough to run the watch for a whole day, and a full charge, reached with under 40 hours of light, gives up to ten months of autonomy in darkness. If it stops for lack of light, it restarts after ten seconds of exposure. The accumulator lasts up to 15 years, so the watch needs no periodic battery changes.

A team watch for everyday wear

With this anniversary edition, the colors of Oracle Red Bull Racing's cars move onto an everyday watch. The caliber keeps running on the light it receives, from the sun or a lamp, without periodic battery changes, and the steel case, with a screw-down back, can be worn for swimming. TAG Heuer has not announced a limited number of pieces, nor said how long the watch will remain on sale.
